District Meeting
Thursday, November 4, 2004 Winter 2004 Meeting
Press Release The Rocky Mountain District convened its winter quarter meeting at the Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver, Colorado on November 4. The meeting was well attended by members from the varied brewing companies, associated industries and support companies situated within the Front Range area and in the eastern Colorado region.
President Axel Johnson, Coors Brewing Company, presided over the business portion of the meeting. He announced that the District’s goal of expanding the chapter to 130 members has been met. The roster is now 139 members. A membership goal of 150 has been set for 2004. The main item of business for the night was the election of officers and appointment of committee chairs. The members unanimously approved the following Executive Board members for a two-year term starting January 2005 :

The E-Board has scheduled the District’s 2005 meetings. They are: February 10, at Anheuser-Busch, Inc, Fort Collins; May 12, at Avery Brewing Company, Boulder, September 16, Fall Technical Out-Of-Towner in Glenwood Springs, and November 3, at Coors Brewing Company, Golden.

The meeting’s technical presentation was given by Kim Jordan, Chief Executive Officer and Owner, New Belgium Brewing Company. Ms. Jordan’s spoke on the subject of beer distribution. Her talk addressed the many difficulties and opportunities that both the small and large brewer faces in developing and maintaining an effective and efficient brewery / distributor relationship. The insights that she gave about this association and on current market trends were well received.
The evening’s events included a delicious buffet meal prepared by Wynkoop’s culinary staff, a brewery tour and the traditional distribution to attendees of a pint glass from the hosting brewery’s collection.
