The next District meeting will be held at Summit Brewing in St. Paul on Wednesday, November 12, 2008. Notices were sent out October 23, 2008. Please RSVP to Chris German by Thursday, November 6, 2008. Social hour begins at 4:00, business meeting will be at 5:00 and the Secretary Officer election will be at 5:30. The candidates are Bob Blair from Fitger’s Brewhouse, Jim Hoeft from Cargill Specialty Malt, and Rebecca Jennings from Rahr Malting Co. The Technical presentation will be split between Rebecca Jennings giving the barley crop report, David Edgar giving the hop crop update, and Pete Rifakes giving the MN Legislative report. Dinner will be catered by Forster’s Meats and Catering.
Please welcome our newest district member John A. Leinenkugel of Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Co. John joined the district in September.
Please congratulate John Holloway for winning the 2008 Golf Outing held at New Richmond Golf Club in June.
Leinenkugel adds a new seasonal beer. The new beer is will be introduced in November. Fireside Nut Brown is an amber-toned brew featuring roasted malt characteristics with English 2-row malts providing a maple aroma and pronounced chocolate, caramel and hazelnut notes. The beer will only be available in November and December, replacing Leinenkugel’s Amber Spice which was introduced in 2005.

Zipp’s Fall Grand Beer Tasting at Cedar Cultural Center

We’ve done it with wine, so we thought to ourselves, “why not with beer?” Join us tonight at the Cedar Cultural Center as we sample some of the best craft and micro brews from around the US as well as the world. Come on down, have some fun and support a great local organization while you’re at it! The final vendor and beer list will be posted closer to the event date. Keep your eyes open for email and in-store updates. 11-6-2008, 6:30pm- 9pm. $20 tickets are available at Zipp’s.
Jim Lonetti, district president, is encouraging all members to utilize our web site for news of their brewery, business, etc.... Feel free to publicize any information such as newly released beers, new products, employees or anything else. If anyone has suggestions for the website, please feel free to contact me. This is an opportunity for everyone to get some advertising for your company. The website can only be as good as we as members make it! Gastro Non Grata

Sounds like another cool event from Gastro Non Grata at the Triple Rock! Each show is like an extended coursed out eating, drinking and music time. Throughout the night we will be sampling beer with Chris and Aran from Furthermore Beer, Mike Philips from the Craftsman restaurant will be on site to grind, case and grill sausage for us. Andrew Kopplin from Kopplin’s coffee will teach the audience how to brew a press pot and music for the evening will be provided by Hojas Rojas, Tuesday’s Robot, Wapsipinicon and picked to click Private Dancer. There will also be a meat raffle and it’s free from 6-9ish, so no excuses, show up. Triple Rock Social Club, 629 Cedar Ave. South
